Correct placement of the transducers when the vessel is docked
Suspend the transducer(s) from a rope alongside the vessel, approximately 2–3 metres below the water surface.
1 transducer: for vessels up to 30 feet. For twin-hull vessels, use 2 transducers.
2 transducers: for vessels up to 60 feet. For twin-hull vessels, use 4 transducers.
4 transducers: for vessels up to 150 feet.
Why ultrasound?
Copper-based antifouling can contribute to marine pollution, and its use is restricted in some locations. It may also fail to provide complete protection against fouling.
Small amounts of copper may not be enough to prevent biofilm, bacteria, barnacles or tube worms. Biofilm plays an important role in the development of fouling. It can begin forming soon after a clean boat is placed in the water, creating conditions that encourage other organisms to settle on the hull.
A more sustainable approach can help save money and reduce maintenance. Keeping the hull clean also helps maintain the vessel’s speed and reduce fuel consumption.
BIOFILM IS AT THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM
Biofilm is a layer of microorganisms that develops on a surface. These microorganisms form a community within a protective slime that they produce themselves.
Biofilms occur wherever moisture and nutrients are available, including on submerged surfaces and within the human body.
HOW ULTRASOUND WORKS
The transducers emit ultrasonic sound waves into the surrounding water. The system is designed to discourage algae and biofilm growth on submerged surfaces.
By limiting the initial development of fouling, ultrasound aims to reduce the conditions that allow barnacles and other marine organisms to become established.

ALPHA BLU is a one-time, low-cost investment designed to reduce the need for dry docking over the years.
